Obituary of James Lafayette McCarter

James L. "Fay" McCarter of Blue Springs, Mo., brother of Mrs. C.J. Windisch of Louisburg, died of a heart attack September 12 while visiting friends in Mexico, Missouri. He was 76 years old and was a railroad engineer for 47 years before he retired. Mr. McCarter had lived in Kansas City many years. He was a member of Roanoke Presbyterian Church and Gate City Masonic Lodge. He worked at Louisburg elevator many years ago when it was operated by Matt Reed and had visited in Louisburg at various times throughout the years.

Surviving besides the sister of Louisburg are the wife at home, four other sisters, and three brothers. Funeral services were held Sept. 15 at Freeman Chapel in Kansas City and interment was in the Mount Moriah cemetery.
