Samuel Worden

(1670 - 2 Sep 1727)

In 1696, Samuel became one of the first freemen in Kingstown, Washington, Rhode Island. On February 20, 1700 he is found living in the Pettaquamscutt Purchase south of Wordens Pond. In 1715 he received a deed from his father for 100 acres on the Great Neck in Washington County.

He died September 2, 1727 in South Kingstown and is believed to have been buried, along with his wife Rose, on Mumford Lot #9 near the Deacon Crandall house, which was purchased 18 Mar 1794 by John II. Bones from 2 graves in this area were moved in 1920-40. He died intestate so Samuel III was granted administration of his property.
