Mrs. Byra May Elder, wife of J.E. Elder, passed away, after a brief illness, at her home in this city on Wednesday morning, Feb. 6th.

Mrs. Elder was the daughter of T.M. and Martha May and was born at Roseburg, Oregon on the 23rd of April, 1866, and was married to J.E. Elder September 24th, 1884.

She was a woman of noble character, a Christian who followed closely her Divine Master. She united with the Methodist Episcopal church, of Dayton, in the fall of 1897, and has been an active member to the time of her death. She will be missed in the community, and the church has sustained an irreparable loss.

The high esteem in which she was held was shown by the large concourse of people that attended the funeral service held in the M.E. church on Thursday afternoon.
