Son Elisha was mentioned in the 1705 will of Thomas Paine. Elisha resided at Eastham; at Barnstable in 1689; back to Eastham and then about 1700 at Canterbury, CT. Elisha Paine was a founder of the Canterbury Church 13 June 1711.
The will of Elisha Paine of Canterbury, dated 15 January 1729 and proved 17 February 1735, mentioned wife, "four sons and six daughters." youngest son John, eldest son Abraham, sons Elisha and Solomon, four daughters Abigal, Rebeccah, Mary, and Dorcas, who had their settlements by deeds; daughter Hanah Pain, youngest daughter Constance Pain, and daughter Rebeccah Cleveland. A witness was Joshua Pain. The will was presented for probate by Abraham Paine to John Paine. The inventory of 19 February 1735 by Joshua Pain and Deliverance Prown included notes and bonds of David Adams Jr., dated 14 January 1735; Joshua Pain, dated 2 May 1729, and John Pain, dated 9 August 1734.
Administration of the estate of Mrs. Rebeckah Pain of Canterbury was granted 13 February 1759 to Mr. Elisha Pain of Canterbury.
