Individual Details
Sarah Permelia MAGOON
(11 Oct 1810 - Jul 1880)
Some documents show her birth as 10 September, others as November and others as October.
It has been stated that she came from Lower Canada to New York state when she was 4 or 11, then moved to Ohio when 14 and married about 16.
Three children from the Robert French marriage died in infancy.
In 1850 Sarah and husband Robert are living in Mentor, Lake County, Ohio. The children listed are Martha, Peter, and Sarah. Within a few houses from them live Robert's parents and sister Angeline.
In 1860 Sarah and Robert are living in Campbell, Warrick County, Indiana with Sarah, age 75, who probably is Robert's mother.
In the 1875 Kansas State Census the family listed as W.H., 67, b. Conneticut; L.B., 64, b. Canada [interesting that the birth date and location matches Permelia but the initials L.B.]; and a Joseph Manley, 17, b. Illinois.
In the 1880 Census Permelia [indexed as Cordelia] and William Manley are living in Emporia, Lyon County, Kansas with Permelia's daughter Sarah and William's grand-daughter Ella V.
