There are at least a couple records which indicate Lewis had a first name beginning with D.
In the 1860 Census the family [indexed McGoan] is living in Grafton, Lorain County, Ohio and household included D. L. 37, Melissa 30, Henry 13, Lucy 11, Martha 10, Jenette 6, Laura 5, and unknown Victoria 28 and Mercy A 15.
This writer has found the children of Lewis confusing. Listed in the 1860 Census is a Victoria and a Mercy who can't be found in other documents. In the 1870 Census, Henry, Lucy, Martha, Jenette, and Laura have the surname of Renz but this is probably a census error as Henry, Martha, and Laura used McGoon later in life. There is a Jane Renz not listed as a McGoon in 1860. For the time being (2013) Jane is listed as a daughter of Lewis and Melissa and Victoria and Mercy will require more research.
