Amanda (Addie) Adeline ROYSE
(30 Apr 1840 - 14 Sep 1908)
In handwritten family notes Amanda is called Addie and in the 1870 Census she is listed as Addie and in the 1900 census she is listed as Adda. One of her sons, Willis S., documents her name as Adeline and he also documents her last name as Royce.
The 1850 Census has her as 9 years old living with her parents Solomon and Sally Royse.
The 1860 Census has her as 20 years old living with husband L.W. (David) Freeman but it has her born in New York which is in error.
The 1870 Census has her as 30 years old living with husband David and four sons as well as her brother Noah Royse.
The 1880 Census has her living in Waverly, Martin County, Minnesota with her family.
The 1900 Census has her as 60 years old living with husband David and son Fred H. It indicates that she had six children with four living in 1900 and her parents were born in Kentucky. Her death certificate also indicates she had six children with four living in 1908 however this writer has only been able to confirm five children with four living in 1908.
