He arrived on the SS Vaderland having steamed from Antwerp on July 10, 1909. He was a 25 year-old tailor and could not read or write English. He left his wife in Krasnocielc, Poland [Russia]. The following obit appeared in an unknown source on November 20, 1949:"Morris Nagel, 10806 Tacoma Ave., beloved husband of Yetta; father of Sam, Jerome, Saul, Harry, Abe of California, Herbert and Mrs. Clara Allenick; 11 grandchildren. Funeral services Sunday, Nov. 20, at 2 p. m. from Lifshetz-Miller Memorial Chapel."
The following obit appeared in the Painesville Telegraph on page 2 on November 21, 1949:
"Death Claims Morris Nagel
"Morris Nagel, 64, of 10800 Tacoma Ave. Cleveland. owner of the Nagel Scrap Iron and Metal Co. 431 Richmond St. died unexpectedly Saturday at Mt. Sinai Hospital, Cleveland. Suffering a heart ailment, he retired five years ago because of Ill health. Services were held Sunday afternoon at the Lefshetz Miller Memorial Funeral Chapel in Cleveland, with Rabbi Israel Porath of Heights Temple officiating. Participating also was Cantor Arman E. Cohen. Born in Russia, Mr. Nagel came to this country and to the Cleveland area 38 years ago.
He founded his business in Painesville 10 years ago. Assuming management during his retirement were two of his sons: Sam of Painesville and Jerome of Cleveland. Surviving also are his wife, Yetta, a daughter, Mrs. Clara Allenik of Cleveland; four other sons: Sol, Harry, and Herbert of Cleveland and Abe of California, and 11 grandchildren.
Mr. Nagel was a member of Heights Temple. In his memory, Nagel's Scrap
Iron and Metal Co. will be closed until Wednesday."
