From the Fargo Forum and Daily Republican, Saturday Evening, Page 7, 7 December 1895:
"Mrs. Rachel Humphrey, wife of Robert J. [sic] Humphrey, a substantial farmer near Grandin, died at the county hospital last evening of typhoid fever.  Mrs. Humphrey‘s life was despaired of several days ago, and she was brought to the hospital Thursday in hopes that something might be done for her.  Thirty six hours afterwards she was dead.  Mr. Humphrey came down from Grandin last night and had the remains of his wife prepared for burial, taking them home to Grandin for internment this morning.  The deceased was 36 years of age and leaves besides her husband a family of children, including a 10 year old daughter, who is seriously ill at home with the same disease."
