Obituary from Liberty County Times, Chester, Montana, 14 October 1987:
"Emma Pearl Perrin was born in Gardiner [sic - Gardner], North Dakota, on September 12, 1894. She was one of three children born to Robert and Rachel (Flatt) Humphrey. Her mother died during her childbirth so Emma was later adopted by the Martin Tenberg family. She grew up and was educated in Gardiner. In 1911, Emma married Joseph K. Collins at Amenia, North Dakota. They came to Montana in 1917 to homestead near Carter. They had three children, two sons and a daughter. Joseph died in 1941.
Emma married George H. Mahoney in 1943 and together they ran the Benton Shoe Repair in Fort Benton. They later moved to Browning and continued in the shoe business there. They eventually moved to Hot Springs, Montana, where George died in 1964.
Emma ran a hotel in Hot Springs for a while, then married Donald L. Perrin, Sr. in 1965. Donald died in 1970. Emma moved to Chester in 1971 to live with her daughter. After her health deteriorated, she moved to the Liberty County Nursing Home in 1981. She lived there until her death the morning of October 9th. She was 93 years old.
She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Lehmen of Chester. Emma was preceded in death by her parents and husbands, and two sons, Joseph in 1937 and Richard in 1939; a sister, Ada; and a brother, Chester.
Funeral services were held at the Chester United Methodist Church. Graveside services at the Carter cemetery where Emma was buried next to her first husband, Joseph Collins. " [Editor Note: Recent found information reveals that her mother did not die in childbirth but three months later from typhoid fever - see her mother Rachel's narrative for her obituary.]
