It is possible he reversed his first/middle names from E.G. to G.E. Tracy Gould remembers her father saying his name was Eliott.
Family history says he came from Liverpool, England to Ontario, Canada at 16 years old.
In the 1891 census there is a George Gould, born in England and parents born in England, Methodist church, living in Dufferin South Sub-District, Selkirk District, Manitoba.
In 1901 census he is living in a boarding house in Mikado Mine, Algoma, Ontario.
In 1905 the Simcoe County, Ontario, Marriage Registration Number 016922 lists him as a Miner. Sally FLATT Brown, although not knowing George GOULD's name, knew from family history that Emogene FLATT married a miner working at the Mikado Gold Mine, Kenora, Ontario. She also discovered a folder in her local (Canada) library which has the inhabitants of the Mikado Mines in 1901. "George Gould 1872 Eng" is included in the list.
In 1910 Emogene's naturalization records indicate George entered the United States at Neche, North Dakota in September 1910, two months after Emogene did and they lived in Gardner, Cass County, North Dakota.
In 1920 George and Emogene and five children are living on the Tamar FLATT farm in Kinyon Township, Cass County, [Note: part of Gardner is in Kinyon Township].
In 1921 the family moved to Mayville, Traill County, but it is believed that sometime between Gardner and Mayville they lived in Shotley, Beltrami County, Minnesota.
In 1925 and 1930 the family is living in Mayville with George a self-employed farmer.
In 1940 the family is living in Casselton, Cass County where George is not working and Emogene is a Seamstress.
