Bensons Observe 60th Anniversary
Rev. and Mrs. J. H. Benson quietly observed their sixieth wedding anniversary at their home, 727 Sixth street, last Sunday, August 23. Their daughter, Mrs. L. R. Roberts of Minneapolis, and eighteen friends from St. Paul and Minneapolis, were dinner guests and during the afternoon and evening a number of friends and neighbors called to extend congratulations.
Rev. and Mrs. Benson were married in Hudson sixty years ago. Mrs. Benson was the former Amanda Lucks, daughter of a pioneer Hudson merchant. Mr. Benson retired from the Methodist ministry twelve years ago and since then they have been making their home in Hudson.

Mrs. J. H. Benson, 84, Dies Tuesday
Mrs. J. H. Benson, 84, died at her home at 727 Sixth street, Tuesday evening, November 14, shortly before midnight, after an illness of six months. The funeral services will be held from the Methodist church on Friday, November 17, at 2:30 p.m.

Mrs. James H. Benson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John G. [sic] Lucks was born Sept. 1, 1860 at St. Peter, Minn. When five years old she with her parents came to Hudson where she grew to womanhood.
In 1882 she was united in marriage to James H. Benson by Rev. W. S. Frame, Presbyterian minister at Hudson. This union was blessed with three children.
In 1886 she with her husband entered the Methodist ministry uniting with the Methodist church in which fellowship she continued for forty[unreadable] years in the active ministry within the bounds of the West Wisconsin Conference and fourteen years of retired relationship whcih ended in her passing on Nov. 14, 1944, at the advanced age of 84 years.
Mrs. Benson was an earnest Christian and with her charming personality of faith was constant and she never tired of good work for others and her family. She was a noble mother and companion. Sixty years of wedded life is the privilege of very few.
Those who survive her are her husband, Rev. J. B. Benson; one daughter, Mrs. L. R. Roberts of Minneapolis, Minn.; two sons, A. M. Benson of Chicago, Ill. and M. L. Benson of Columbus, Ohio; also six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, Nov. 17, from the Methodist church. Interment was in Willow River cemetery.
