Martha Lena Doerer Sargent was born in St. Paul to George Doerer and Augusta Rekow Doerer May 11, 1886.
She died August 9 at the age of 91 at Miller hospital in St. Paul.
She grew up in White Bear, Minnesota and was married on March 23, 1909 to Benjamin W. Sargent in Scranton, North Dakota, where two sons were born, Kenneth George and Archie Warren.
In 1913 they moved to St. Joseph township near Hudson, and there a daughter, Myrtle Augusta was born.
She was preceded in death by two sons in 1933 and her husband in 1963.
She is survived by her daughter, Myrtle Augusta (Mrs. Albert P. J. Hanson) and three grandchildren, Kenneth Archie Hanson of Burlington, Iowa, Beverly Martha Hanson Bronfeld (Mrs. Stewart) of Westport, Conn., and Wayne Benjamin Hanson of St. Paul; and one great grandchild, Kenneth Kelly Hanson; and also two brothers, Charles Doerer and George Doerer of White Bear Lake and one sister, Augusta Doerer Flugg of North St. Paul.
For the past 14 years she has lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Myrtle and Albert P. J. Hanson of R1, Hudson.
She devoted her life to her family and a host of friends and neighbors and followed life long hobbies of gardening and cooking.
Funeral services were Friday, August 12, at 2 p.m. at the Swanson Funeral Home with Pastor L. Donald Docken officiating. Interment was in Houlton cemetery. Pallbearers were Virgil and Cyril Cernohous, Kenneth Hanson, Wayne Hanson, Stewart Bronfeld and Kelly Hanson.
