Curtiss O. Bottolfson of New Richmond died Saturday, July 27 at the St. Croix Health Center. He was born in Alden Township April 28, 1927 to Oscar and Florence (Gibson) Bottolfson.
He married Elizabeth Larson Aug. 21, 1948. Curt was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister. He is survived by his wife Betty Bottolfson; his three daughters, Deb (John) Shattuck, Kathy (Matt) Binford, Krissy (Randy) McCann, all of New Richmond; seven grandchildren, Cara (Keith) Baker, Harper and Hayley Binford, Megan Shattuck, and Andrea, Connor and Madeline McCann; one great-grandchild, Hannah Jo Baker; four brothers, George (Jean) Bottolfson of Becker, Minn., Russel Bottolfson of Star Prairie, Orlo Bottolfson of Star Prairie, Howard (Gloria) of Star Prairie; and special brother-in-law James Handrahan of New Richmond.
Curt was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. After his retirement from Andersen Windows, where he worked for 33 years, he and Betty spent a lot of time at their cabin on Webb Lake. When his health failed in 1996, they decided to sell their lake home.
The last years of his life he enjoyed sitting on his porch and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchild at play, who visited almost daily. Betty took care of Curt for many years at home, until last April when he suffered a debilitating stroke.
Curt will be missed by many friends and family, but mostly by his wife, children and grandchildren who were the highlight of his life.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 31, at West Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alden Township with Pastor Rex Brandt officiating. Organist was Diane Kammerud and soloist was Laura Jarchow.
Casketbearers were Richard Handrahan, Eric Hatch, Jim Larson, Mark Bottolfson, Steve Bottolfson, and Scot Bottolfson. Honorary casketbearers were James Handrahan, Russell Larson, Roger Larson and Ronnie Larson.
Military honors were provided by American Legion Post #80 of New Richmond. Interment was in the church cemetery. Memorials are preferred to West Immanuel Lutheran Church building fund.
Arrangements by Beebe Mortuary.
