Death

Mr. James Preston Furr, age 94, of Douglasville, GA passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025. A Funeral Service will be held at 12pm on Thursday, February 6, 2025, in the chapel of West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, GA. Burial will follow at 2:30pm at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton. The family will receive friends from 10am until 12pm prior to the ceremony at the funeral home. A native of Mansfield, Ohio, Mr. Furr was a veteran of the United States Air Force, retiring after 22 years of service. He served in the post war occupation of Japan, the Korean war and two deployments in Vietnam. He was a member of Life Church. Mr. Furr was preceded in death by his parents, James Preston Furr, Sr., and Cora Carpenter Furr, his first wife, Geraldine H. Furr, 2 brothers, Willie Furr, and Lloyd Furr, and a sister, Jerry Furr. He is survived by his wife, Delores L. Furr; 6 children, Karen Stephens, James Preston Furr, III, Timothy Furr, Thomas Furr, Tamala Teal, and Julieanne Pierce; 5 step children, Angela Bedard, Lisa Cate, Edward LaHaie, David LaHaie, and Aime Moon; sister, Edna Ziegler; 3 brothers, Herb Furr, Dick Furr, and Fred Furr; 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren, and 4 step great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Life Church.
