JOHNSVILLE -- Lloyd L. Furr, 71, of U.S. 42 died Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at home after a sudden illness. He was born June 20, 1934, in Shelby to James Preston and Cora Lillian Carpenter Furr and had been a Shelby resident prior to moving to Johnsville in 1993. Lloyd was employed as a crane operator for Copperweld Corporation for over 45 years before retiring in 1996. He was a member of Johnsville Grace United Methodist Church where he formerly served as chairperson of the trustees, and a member of Morrow County Area Honey Bee Association. Lloyd possessed a hard work ethic and was a great friend and neighbor, never too busy to help when needed. He loved farming and his dogs, fishing and hunting, specially squirrels, rabbits and groundhogs. He showed Arabian Quarter Horses and id horse shoeing and blacksmithing. He was an advisor for 4-H and Junior Achievement. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Shirley Lou McConeghy Furr, whom he married January 31, 1998; a daughter, Peggy E. Dawson and her friend Greg Kaple of Shelby; a granddaughter, Dixie Dawson of Charleston, South Carolina; stepchildren and their spouses, Stephen and Jessica Coats of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Tracey and Michael Hicks of Shelby, Judy and Michael Hoy of Great Falls, Montana, and Chenoa and Joe Braaten of Victorville, California; seven step grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; five brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Jerry Furr of Douglasville, Georgia, Wilbert and Dorcia Furr and Herbert and Kate Furr, all of Galion, Richard and Barb Furr and Frederick and Jennifer Furr, all of Shelby; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Edna and William Zeigler of Ashland and Jerry and Floyd Shaw of Shelby. The funeral service will be held at 12 noon Friday, July 8, 2005 at Johnsville Grace United Methodist Church. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service. The Rev. John Partridge will officiate. The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements. Interment will be in Shauck Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Johnsville Grace United Methodist Church.Endnotes
