Death
Gilbert Furr, 67, of Parkersburg, passed away Wednesday, April 18, while working in his farm garden in Ritchie County. He was a veteran of World War II. He attended the Big Island Run Methodist Church and was a retired employee of the Davis Water Company. He had driven the Belpre bus for 15 years. Survivors include his wife, Ruby; three sons, James of Parkersburg, Ralph of Vale, N.C., and Robert with the U.S. Navy; three daughters, Patricia Furr and Mary Lou Cox, both of Parkersburg, and Crystal Delaney of Mineral Wells; one brother, Basil, of Jessup, Md.; five sisters, Bessie Delaney of Petroleum, Clara Jenkins and Mabel Jones, both of Macfarlan, Leona Cain of Chillicothe, O., and Frances Leahman, of Texas; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at the Big Island Run Methodist Church on State Route 53. He was interred in the Lewis Cemetery on State Rt. 47, in Ritchie County. Pomroy Funeral Home of Elizabeth was in charge of the arrangements.Military
