Note1879Robert moved his family to Albury in about 1879 and in the 1878-79 NSW state elections at the Hume voting booth, Robert Smith (aged 49) is recorded residing at Guinea St in Albury, NSW. In the 1882-83 NSW election for the division of Albury, Robert (aged 53) is recorded residing at "railway line, Bowna", (Bowna is a short distance north of Albury - his railway workers' cottage was probably located adjacent to Plunkett Rd, which is the only side road at Bowna off the Hume Hwy which crosses the railway line). In the 1888-89 NSW election for the division of Albury, he is recorded residing at "railway line, Albury" & in the 1895-96 NSW election in the Hume Division at the Albury voting booth, Robert Smith railway porter (age about 67) is recorded still residing at "railway line" (presumably in a railway cottage nearby to Albury station). At the time of his death in Albury one year later in 1897 (at the stated age of 68), the informant had noted his occupation as "railway porter". However, many years later at the time of his daughter Sarah's death in 1929, his occupation as noted by the informant had changed to that of "station master" at Albury!
