Death

ALBEMARLE — William Thomas Furr Sr., 47, of Route 3, died 2:50 p.m. Thursday at Charlotte Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. The funeral will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. Homer Furr and the Rev. Eason. Burial will be in Norwood Cemetery in Norwood. Born April 23, 1935 in Stanly County, he was a son of William Daniel Furr of Tampa, Fla. and the late Elma Rogers Furr. He was an auto mechanic, a veteran of the Korean conflict, and a member of Grace Baptist Church in Fayetteville. His wife, Edna Pruett Furr, died in June of 1980. Survivors, in addition to his father, include four sons, William T. Jr., Richard E., Johnny Edmond, and Gary Lane Furr, all of Albemarle, two daughter, Mrs. Donna Gilmore and Mrs. Penny Simpson, both of Norwood, Four brothers, Leroy Furr of Albemarle, the Rev Homer Furr of Tampa, Fla., Paul Furr of Norwood and W. D. Furr Jr. of Newport News, Va., two sisters, Mrs. Idell Skinner and Mrs. Gertie Creed, both of Norwood, and four grandchildren.
