Death

ALBEMARLE — Mrs Edna Pruett Furr, 39, of 119 Austin St., died on Tuesday night at Stanly County Hospital following one year of declining health. The funeral will be 2 p.m on Thursday in Calvary Baptist Church conducted by the Rev Ed Eason and the Rev Homer Furr. Burial will be in Norwood Cemetery. The body will be taken from the Stanly Funeral Home to the home on Austin Street at 4 p.m. today and will remain there until placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Born July 27, 1940, in Beckley, W Va, Mrs Furr was a daughter of Mrs Janie Hughes Pruett Freeman of Newport News, Va and the late Edmond Pruett. She was employed by Jefferies Southern Processors in Albemarle and was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband, William T Furr, four sons, William T Furr Jr of Richfield, and Ricky, Johnny and Gary Furr, all of the home, two daughters, Mrs Donna Stogner and Mrs. Penny Simpson, both of Albemarle. Her stepfather, Richard Freeman of Newport News, Va, three sisters, Mrs. Patricia Davidson of Orlando, Fla, Mrs Eleanor Jones of Tazwell, Vaand Mrs Jimmy Wright of Newport News, Va , and two grandchildren.
