Death
HAMPTON - William Daniel Furr Jr., 73, a native of Norwood, N.C., and a 53 year resident of Hampton, died at home on Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, surrounded by his family. He was the Prep Center Shop Manager at Casey Chevrolet and retired after 38 years of service in November of 2002. William was preceded in death by his parents, William D. Sr. and Alma Plyler Furr; his brothers and sisters, Lee Roy, Idell Skinner, Gertie Creed, Paul, Albert, and William (Bill). He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 29 years, June Turbeville Furr; son, Charles Furr; stepsons, Freddie Long, Harold Grainger, Bobby Grainger and Auty (Buck) Grainger; stepdaughter, Donna G. Suits; brother, Homer Furr; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of William's life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 21, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
