Death

June Grainger Furr, 80, affectionally known as Granny June to all, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at home. She was born in Tabor City, N.C. and was a resident of Hampton for 55 years. She was a self-employed beautician for over 30 years and a member of Ivy Memorial Baptist Church. June was preceded in rest by her husband of 27 years, Ira Grainger and husband of 30 years, William Furr; son, Rodney Grainger; grandson, Darrick Grainger; and parents, Alton and VLue Turbeville. She is survived by three sons, Bobby (Phyllis) Grainger, Harold (Phyllis) Grainger, Buck (Susan) Grainger; daughter, Donna (Donald) Suits; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Sam Turbeville and Tim Turbeville; two sisters, Linda Thompson and Cindy (Buddy) Zember; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend appreciation to Bernice Slade for her friendship and dedication to our mother. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, October 12, 2015 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of June's life will be held at 11:00 am on October 13, at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
