Death
Max Franklin Furr, 71, of Wilmington died April 25 in New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was retired from Seaboard Coastline Railroad. The funeral was April 27 in Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel; burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Furr was born in Matthews on June 5, 1920, to the late Henry Braxton and Mary Fink Furr. He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, a member of the Rail Road Oldtimers Club and past president of the Wilmington Bottle Club. Survivors include three sons, Charles Franklin Fur of Charlotte, James Wilson Furr of Charlotte and Max Todd Furr of Richmond, Va.; 10 grandchildren; and a brother, James Cameron Furr of Monroe. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Foundation, 2315 A. Sunset Ave., Rocky Mount, N.C. 27801.Endnotes
