Mrs. Ethel Viola Furr Hartiss, 69, of 510 W. John St. Matthews, died Tuesday. Funeral is 2 p.m. Thursday at Matthews United Methodist Church. Survivors are husband, Jess; sons, Raeford Eugene Hartiss of Charlotte, James Madison Hartiss of Bennettsville, S.C., Jerry Edmund Hartiss, Henry Eddie Hartiss; daughters, Mrs. Lanell Reid Hagerty of Belmont, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Lemmond, Mrs. Teresa Jean Litaker; brothers, James Cameron Furr of Monroe, Max Furr of Wilmington.
