CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Gladys Furr Morgan, 85, of Charlotte, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, at Presbyterian Hospital. Born July 29, 1922, in Greensboro, she was a daughter of the late George Cephus Furr and Bertha Margaret Belk Furr. Mrs. Morgan retired in 1971 as a spinner at Cannon Mills after 12 years of service. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. The service to celebrate the life of Gladys Furr Morgan will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008 at St. John's United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Nina Wynn officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Monday at McEwen Funeral Service, Sharon Memorial Park. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Irvin C. Morgan; three sons, Buddy F. Morgan and his wife, Linda, of Charlotte, Jerry Lee Morgan of Charlotte and Doug Morgan and his wife, Marie, of China Grove; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by a son, Gary Irvin Morgan; four siblings, Grace Little, Fred Furr, Betty Furr and Wade Furr; a grandson, Jerry Shane Morgan; and a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Morgan.
