Death

Robert H. Furr of the Mountain Hill community, Route 1, Ringgold, died in Memorial Hospital, Wednesday at 12:40 p.m., after a failure in health since March. He was admitted to the hospital on December 26, and his condition had been critical since last Friday. Mr. Furr, aged 41 years, was born at Schoolfield, June 12, 1926, a son of Robert Franklin Furr and Mrs. Della Hardy Furr. All of his life had been spent in the county and Danville. He was of the Methodist faith. He had been an attendant in several local service stations in the past few years. On January 15, 1944, he was married to Miss Elizabeth Ann Reynolds. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Patricia McCann and Mrs. Sandra Hoover, both of Milton. N. C.; two sons, Richard Henry Furr and Silas Franklin Furr, both of Java; and four grandchildren. He also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Virginia Coleman, Mrs. Doris Wheatley, and Mrs. Frances Thompson, all of Danville and three brothers: Owen L. Furr, of Charlottesville, Thomas E. Furr and Fredrick S. Furr, both of Danville. Funeral services will be conducted from the Chapel of the Swicegood Funeral Home, Friday at 2:00 p.m., by the Rev. F. J. Wingfield, Sr. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The body is at the funeral home, and the family will be at the homes of his mother-in-law, Mrs. Della Reynolds, 661 Franklin Street, and his parents, 830 Glendale Avenue.
