Death

Robert Franklin Furr, 75, of 19 Brown Lane, died yesterday in Memorial Hospital. He had been in declining health for about 16 months and seriously ill one week. A son of the late William Henry Furr and Maggie Eudy Furr, he was born in Concord, N.C., April 18, 1896. He was married to the late Della Angeline Hardy Furr on Nov. 29, 1923. Most of his life was spent in the BrosvilIe community. He was of the Methodist faith and was a veteran of World War I. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Virginia F. Coleman, Mrs. Doris Wheatley and Mrs. Frances Thompson, all of Danville; three sons, Owen L. Furr of Charlottesville and Thomas E. Furr and Frederick S, Furr, both of Danville; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 4 p.m. from the Swicegood Chapel by the Rev. John Finklea and the Rev. Wesley Odum. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The body is resting at the funeral home where the family will receive friends this evening from 7:30 to 9 o’clock. At other times the family will be at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Thompson at 19 Brown Lane.
