Robert Stephen Furr, Sr. “Steve”, 66, of Charlotte, passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Carolinas Medical Center-Main. Steve was born June 9, 1948 in Charlotte, NC, a son of the late Lester Able “L.A.” and Ardenia Benton Furr, Sr.; and husband to Susan Williams Furr of Charlotte, NC. Steve resided in Charlotte with 11 siblings during his childhood years. He was a graduate of Garinger High School and a Professional Wallpaper Hanger by trade. He enjoyed making thousands of homes beautiful with his work and was very talented. Steve was an avid Carolina Basketball fan, an animal lover who enjoyed walking his dogs, and he enjoyed deep sea fishing with his three sons. Steve always had a smile on his face and a kind word to say. He is preceded in death by his parents, as well as, brothers; Lester “Dodey” Furr, Jr. and Arthur Furr, sisters; Janet Gibson and Diane Furr, and infant grand-daughter Anna Caroline Furr. Survived by brothers; Tim, Rick, Ronny, Mike, and Donny Furr and sisters; Peggy McGee and Judy Mills, as well many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Steve is survived by three sons, Tim Grant and wife Amy, Bob Furr and wife Crystal, Lance Furr and wife Tina, all of Charlotte, NC, grandchildren Amber Grant, Brianne Furr, TJ Grant, Brandon Furr, Cole Furr, Jessica Graham, Grace Furr, and great-grandchildren Mason and Scarlett Grant. Steve was married to and is survived by his wife, Susan Williams Furr, father-in-law Ray Williams, brother-in-law Butch Williams, and sisters-in-law, Linda and Don Reeves, Sandy and Pete Rader, as well as many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 13, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. with a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Indian Trail Chapel. 4431 Old Monroe Rd. Indian Trail, NC 28079.
