Ida Blanche FURR

(5 Jul 1887 - 17 Jan 1976)

Miss Ida Blanche Furr, daughter of H. E. G. Furr, of McKinney, Tex., is visiting her cousin, Mr. P. M. Phillips, of this county. Miss Furr is a great granddaughter of Henry Furr, of Cabarrus county, who was one of the fighters for freedom in the Revolutionary war and who was known as a great soldier and a man of physical prowess. Miss Furr’s grandfather was Paul M. Furr, also of Cabarrus county. Early in 1861 he joined the Southern army and followed it to its defeat in behalf of the cause which he believed it to be the duty of all patriotic citizens to espouse. Immediately after the war he decided to leave the State and with his family he first went to Indiana. After remaining there a short while he moved to McKinney, Texas, where he settled and did well, reflecting honor on the good state of North Carolina which gave him birth.
