Death
Funeral services for Lon G. Furr, 84, who died Saturday at his home, 305 South Tennessee Street, were help at 4 o’clock Sunday afternoon in the Turrentine-Jackson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Arthur Renfo, pastor of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church, and Rev. Edwin Dowell of the First Christian Church, officiated. Internment was made in Pecan Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Clifton Dowell, Bob Tucker, William Warden, David Bell, Paul McCrary and Roy Caldwell. Born and reared in McKinney son of the late Mr. and Mrs. H. E. G. Furr, he was engaged in the contracting business, except for a few years which he spent in Abilene where he was associated with the Texas Employment Commission. He was born October 19, 1880, was a member of Wesley Memorial Methodists Church, a Mason and a Shriner. He married July 2, 1910 in Fort Worth to Miss Josie Faires, who survives with one daughter, Mrs. Dean Bell of San Angelo; one grandson David Bell of San Angelo; and two sisters, Mrs. D. F. Houston of McKinney and Mrs. R. F. Hatched of Washington, D. C. Among the out-of-town relatives and fiends here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Homer Rogers, Miss Bessie Mae Hamilton, Miss Mary Jo Hamilton, Mrs. Frank Faires and daughter, Miss Frances Louise Faires, and Mrs. Northfleet Figure, all of Dallas; Mrs. Darrell R. Faubion of Austin; Mr. and Mrs. E. Click White of Gainesville; Mrs. B. Franklin Houston of Dallas; and Mrs. Walter Bremond of Austin.The Courier-Gazette, McKinney, Texas, July 7, 1965
