Notes
Death
James Ansel Furr, aged 22 years, 4 months and 4 days, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. G. Furr, who reside on 208 East Colorado street, passed away at 3:45 o'clock this morning after a brief illness. James was a highly esteemed young man of this city, having been born and reared here. His friends were numbered by the score. He attended the public schools of this city, and also took a course in the McKinney Business College. James was a contractor and was working in the town of Celina previous to his death. He came home from Celina Thursday, July 27, feeling that a few days rest would benefit him. He was compelled to take his bed. His death was due to malarial fever. James seemed to be getting along very well until a few hours before his death. His parents did not realize the danger he was in. His death was a great shock to his many friends. James was a member of the First Methodist church of this city, having joined in early childhood. He is survived by his parents, and the following brothers and sisters; Lon G. Furr and Edmond Furr, Mrs. Dr. D. F. Houston and Miss Blanche Furr, all living in McKinney. The funeral services will be held at the home Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock, conducted by Rev. W. D. Thompson, pastor the First Methodist church, assisted by Rev. W. E. Thomas, pastor of the Wilcox St. Methodist church. The interment will be in Pecan Grove cemetery. In the death of James Furr the city has lost one of its honest, sober and upright young men, and the church one of its faithful members. These papers extend sincere sympathy to the family of Mr. Furr in their bereavement. The Courier-Gazette, McKinney, Texas, August 5, 1911
