Death
Mrs. R. L. Freeman Barbee, of Oakboro, route 1, died Monday morning after an illness of two years. She was 78 years old. A native of this county she was the daughter of the late Rance and Katherine Smith Furr. Her husband has been dead several years. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Bear Creek Primitive Baptist church, conducted by Elder Cliff Allen. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Surviving are two sons, Clarence A. Freeman of Oakboro and Fred C. Freeman of Gold Hill; one sister, Mrs. Will Thomas of Albemarle; and three brothers, M. C. “Bud” Furr and Adam Furr of Albemarle, route 3, and Clarence Furr of Stanfield.Stanly News and Press, Albemarle, North Carolina, June 22, 1948
