Death
Mrs. Hargett Vinnie Thomason, 96-year-old Stanly county woman, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Meeks, of route 1, Oakboro, Thursday morning at 5 o'clock after several weeks of illness. She was born July: 16, 1867, daughter of the late Ransom and Mathilda Smith Furr of Stanly county. A member of Bear Creek Primitive Baptist church, she was married to the late Will Thomason who passed away in September, 1922. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. John Meeks of route 1, Oakboro, and Mrs. Cline Lowder of Kannapolis; three sons, Jesse W. of Albemarle, Dewey of route 2, New London, and Theodore of Kannapolis; 18 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and one brother, Adam Furr, of route 4, Albemarle. Funeral services for Mrs. Thomason will be held Friday at 3 pm. at Bear Creek Primitive! Baptist church, conducted by Elder Jason Eudy and assisted by Rev. Mr. Ferguson of Kannapolis. Burial will follow in the Furr family cemetery near the church. The body was taken to the home of a son, Jesse Thomason, 703 Rogers street in Albemarle, late Thursday afternoon where it will remain until taken to the church on Friday.Stanly News and Press, Albemarle, North Carolina, December 18, 1953
