Death

Cecil Ray Furr. 76, of Provo, died Monday, Aug. 24, 1987 at the Utah Valley Medical Center of kidney failure. He was born April 7. 1911 in La Belle, Idaho to Green Paul and Mary Cathryn Hathcock Furr. He married Lucile Hawkins Furr June 16, 1937 in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. She died in 1980. He was an active member of the LDS Church. He served a Southern States Mission 1936-37. He was organist in the Salt Lake Valley View 10th Ward for over 15 years. He grew up in Mesa, Ariz. and graduated trom Arizona State University in 1934. He taught music in the Arizona and Utah public schools tor over 40 years. He was an accomplished pianist and musician. He is survived by one son and two daughters Steven Furr, Salt Lake City, Miriam Stimpson, Provo; Cecilia Crystal, New York City, six grandchildren, one sister and four brothers Mary Johnston, Phoenix, Ariz, Carl Furr and Vernon Furr, both Mesa, Ariz. Edgar Furr, Glendale, Ariz. and James A Furr, Scottsdale. Ariz. He was preceded in death by a daughter. Mary Lucile in 1966. Graveside service will be Friday, 1 pm Wasatch Lawn Memorial Chapel, 34th South and Highland Drive, Salt Lake City. Friends may call prior to the ceremony. Burial at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
