Notes
Death
Stephen Ray Furr passed away on Friday, February 27, 2026, in his home in Beulah, North Dakota. Steve was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on Friday the 13, September 1943 to Cecil and Lucile Furr. He has three sisters, Miriam, Mary Lu, and Cecilia. Steve graduated from the University of Utah and Salt Lake Trade Tech. During the Vietnam War, Steve served on the Roger B. Taney ship as a member of the U.S. Coastguard. Upon his return from being discharged, Steve started dating Sydney, and they were married in 1972. That same year he became a trooper for the Utah Highway Patrol where he served for 20 years. When he retired from the patrol, Steve worked as a Federal Court security officer for another 10 years. Steve and Sydney have two great kids, Nate (Lisa) and Maryn (Shawn). The family loved to camp and ride ATV's down at Furr Hollow. They also have three cool grandkids, Parker, Devoe, and Chloe. He was also well enough to receive the great news that Parker and Remi are going to make him a great grandpa. Steve and Sydney loved riding their Harley. The tales they would share. If there are Harleys in heaven, Steve is up there riding. The family is planning a Celebration of Steve's life sometime this summer in Utah. Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.Endnotes
