Death
Donald Dale Furr, 67, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 1997. Born in Concord, N.C., he had been a Hampton resident for 40 years. He was a machinist at Newport News Shipbuilding, retiring in 1992 after 43 years. He was also an Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Furr is survived by his wife, Doris W. Furr; daughters, Doris D. Pollard of Westminster, Md., and Donna R. Furr of Gloucester; sons, Donald R. Furr of Hampton, Bruce E. Furr of Concord, N.C., and Keith W. Furr of Capron; sisters, Phyllis Ann Harvelle, Carolyn Sue Burris and Brenda Kay Harvelle; brothers, Homer E. Furr, Kenneth Morris Furr, James Ralph Furr, William Lee Furr and Larry Eugene Furr; and six grandchildren and one great-grand- daughter. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home in Hampton. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel by the Rev. Steve Pollard. Interment will follow in Hampton Veterans Memorial Gardens.Daily Press Newport News, Virginia, November 9, 1997
