RAVENEL, S.C. — Homer Earl Furr Sr., 80, of Ravenel, S.C., died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003. Service, 10 a.m. today at James A. Dyal Funeral Home in Summerville, S.C. James A. Dyal Funeral Home, 303 S. Main St., Summerville, S.C.Homer Earl Furr, Sr., 80, of Ravenel, husband of Mary E. Furr, died Wednesday, September 10, 2003 at his residence. Funeral service will be held Saturday, September13, 2003 at 10 o'clock at JAMES A. DYAL FUNERAL HOME, Summerville. Burial will be held in Hickory Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Brunson, SC at 1 o'clock. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 until 8 o'clock this evening. Mr. Furr was born April 11, 1923 in Concord, North Carolina, son of the late Homer Furr and Minnie Barnhardt Furr. He attended schools in Concord, North Carolina, He was a member of the American Legion Post 145 serving as Commander for eight years, the VFW Post 3142, Fleet Reserve Branch 50, Charleston County Voiture 974 forty and eight and the Retired Enlisted association. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He Retired as a Chief Machinist Mate with Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are His wife: Mary E. Furr of Ravenel, 2 sons: Homer Earl Furr, Jr. of Johnson City, Tn, Johnnie Furr of Harrisburg, NC, Step son: Edwin A. Aubert of Summerville, 3 step daughters: Marilyn Perreautlt of Griswold, Ct., Alice Harp of Mt. Pleasant, Patricia Wynn of Georgetown, 3 brothers: Willie Furr of Locust NC, Kenneth Furr of Titusville, Fl, Larry Furr of Mooresville, NC, 3 sisters: Brenda Harvell of Midland, NC, Carloyn Burris of Concord, NC., Phyllis Harvell of Midland, NC, 16 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren.
