Death
Ret. Army Command Sgt. Maj. Earnest Julius Furr, 81, of 2120 Woodbine Ave., Fayetteville, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2006, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Mr. Furr was born Aug. 26, 1924, to the late J.A. and Daisy Kaiser Furr in Concord. Mr. Furr was a World War II and Vietnam War veteran, having served two tours in Vietnam. He was also at the invasion of Normandy at Omaha Beach. His military career ended with over 28 years of honorable service. Mr. Furr was a 32nd Degree Mason with Phoenix Lodge No. 8 in Fayetteville. He was an avid golfer and loved working in the yard and being outdoors. Mr. Furr was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, soldier and friend to all who knew him. Surviving loved ones of Mr. Furr are his loving wife of 60 years, Vicenia M. Furr of the home; his loving daughters Theresa Ann Furr of North Canton, Ohio, and Vicky D. Furr of the home; and a loving granddaughter, Kimberly Luczywski of North Canton. He is also survived by three sisters, Blanche Mason of Concord, Hilda Beaver of China Grove and Helen Furr of Charlotte; and a brother, K.C. Furr of Concord. Funeral Services for Mr. Furr will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2006, in the chapel of Rogers and Breece Funeral Home with Chaplain Ron Eastes officiating. He will be laid to rest with the rendering of full military honors in Lafayette Memorial Park. The Army Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Eastern North Carolina Chapter, 400 Oberlin Road, Suite 220, Raleigh, NC 27605-1351. Services entrusted to Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.Military
