Death
Kenneth Cicero Furr Sr. 101, of 284 Kerr St., N.W., Concord, and 603 Ocean Blvd., Carolina Beach, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at Lutheran Homeat Trinity Oaks, Salisbury. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis. Hartsell Funeral Homes, Albemarle. Published in the Star-News on 12/25/2008CONCORD- Kenneth Cicero Furr Sr., 101, of 284 Kerr Street NW, and 603 Ocean Blvd., Carolinas Beach, passed away Tuesday, Dec.23, 2008 at the Luthern Home in Salisbury. A graveside service will be held today at 2 p.m. at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. The Rev. Steve Ayers will officiate. Mr. Furr was born June 20, 1907, to the late Jonah L. and Daisy Kiser Furr in Cabarrus County. He was employed by Cannon Mills until his retirement in 1986. He was a longtime member of McGill Street Baptist Church in Concord and later of First Baptist Church of Carolina Beach. Mr. Furr was preceeded in death by his wife Pearl Atwell Furr; son, Kenneth C. Furr Jr.; and five brothers and two sisters. Survivors include son, Dr. Hal E. Furr and wife Montye of Salisbury; grandson, Bradley A. Furr of Charlotte; granddaughter Stacey F. Wilson and husband Jeff; three great-grandchildren, Chloe, Lucy, and Ryder of Charlotte. He is also survived by two sisters, Hilda Beaver of China Grove, and Helen Furr of Charlotte. Memorial may be sent to McGill Baptist, 5300 Poplar Tent Road, Concord, NC 28027, or First Baptist Church of Carolina Beach, 409 N. Lake Blvd. Carolina Beach, NC 28428 Hartsell Funeral Home is serving the family.
