Death
Barbara Ellen Furr Mrs. Furr, age 67, loving mother, cherished maw-maw and adored friend of Charlotte died April 1, 2008 at Presbyterian Hospital surrounded by her family. A memorial service to celebrate the life of this wonderful lady will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, Reverend Ralph Ellis officiating, with a visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to service. Mrs. Furr was born November 16, 1940 in Charlotte, daughter of the late J.F. and Mary McCall Furr. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Barbara had an upbeat spirit that would always bring a smile to your face and warmth to your heart. She spent her working years in the paper and bindery industry working for Duke Power Company, Expedx and others. When you met Barbara you knew that you had a friend for life. If you were ever in need and Barbara found out, she would do anything to help you. She always had a smile and a kind word to say. She is survived by the love of her life, Ed Baxley of Charlotte; daughters, Nancy Bryant and Holly Bryant and friend, Monte Welsh all of Charlotte and Debbie Dotson and husband, Jeff of Mt. Holly, NC; son, Mark Whittington of Harrisburg, NC. She is also survived by four bright lights in her life, her beautiful granddaughters, Elizabeth Bryant, Sydney Whittington, Jennifer Gallihugh, and Monica Dotson; sisters, Phyllis Bennett of Cary, NC, Louise Foster of Concord, NC and Meta Lamb of Boise, ID. Mrs. Furr was preceded in death by her son, Police Officer, Timothy Whittington and brothers, Watson and Bill Furr. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 2200 Ashley Road, Charlotte, NC 28208 or to the Concerns of Police Survivors, PO Box 3199, Camdenton, MO, 65020.
