Edward Allen Baxley 'Buck' 'Paw Paw' Mr. Baxley, 74, of Ellerbe, formerly of Charlotte died Wednesday, April 1, 2009 peacefully at his home. He was born October 8, 1934 in Dillon County, SC, a son of the late Eddie Home and Rowena Dailey Baxley. Mr. Baxley spent 4 years in the US Navy as a construction mechanic and later in the US Naval Reserve. He retired from Gardner Machinery. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mattie B. Hudson and the love of his life, Barbara Ellen Furr. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home Chapel in Rockingham with Rev. Leon Hawks officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Church cemetery in Ellerbe. He is survived by a sister, Margaret B. Hawks of Ellerbe; a brother, Joe Baxley of Arizona; a brother-in-law, Edwin Hudson of Rockingham; Barbara's children and grandchildren, Debbie Dotson of Mt. Holly, Nancy Bryant and Holly Bryant of Charlotte and Mark Whittington of Harrisburg. Grandchildren, Elizabeth Bryant, Sydney Whittington, Jennifer Gallihugh and Monica Dotson. Nieces and nephews Edna Maynor, Emily Keel, Danny Hawks, Laurie Hawks-Saultz, all of Ellerbe, Marian White, Rowena Reece, both of Rockingham, Dava Martin of Hamlet, Homa White of Columbia, SC, Matthew Hudson of Roseland, Monica Ortega and Ian Baxley of Arizona. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home of his niece, 635 Dockery Rd. Rockingham. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Frankie Long for love support and kindness to Buck and his family during his illness and also to Nicole Blake for delivering the message that Hospice is not for the dying, it's for the living.
