Death
CONCORD — Mr. Floyd A. Furr, 81, of 697 Main St., S.W., was called to Heaven Monday, January 12, 1998, at NorthEast Medical Center after a long illness. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, January 1S; 1998, at Bright Light Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Carolinas Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, January 14, 1998, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord. At other times, the family will be at the home, 697 Main St., S.W. Mr. Furr was born October 1, 1916 in Stanfield, NC, to Martin and Minnie Furr. He was preceded in death by both parents and all ten brothers and sisters. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War Il. He retired as a Supervisor from Cannon Mills after 54 years of service. His joy and passion has long been serving his Lord through the Gospel Trio, a gospel singing group which he founded along with his wife, Lorraine. He was lead singer and played guitar. Prior to this illness, he was an active part of the Music Ministry at Bright Light Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Lorraine Foster Furr; children: a daughter, Connie Scognamillo of Concord, NC, and a son, Terry Furr of St. Augustine, Florida; son-in-law, Robert Scognamillo; daughter-in-law, Cristy Bradley Furr; grandchildren, Angelia Huneycutt, Lori Miller and Tracy Furr; great-grandchildren, Ali Rae Huneycutt, Taylor and Justin Rogers and Megan Miller. Spouses of granddaughters are Danny Huneycutt and Kenneth Miller. Arrangements are being handled by Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord, NC.
