Death
CONCORD - Mrs. Lorraine Furr, 86, of 697 Main Street S.W. Concord, was called to her heavenly home on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. Born in Cabarrus County on Oct. 29, 1922, to the late Grover Lee Foster and Pearl (Hill) Foster . She was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Floyd A. Furr; brothers, Hubert, Conway, and Melvin; and sister, Juanita. The family meeting place will be the home. Mrs. Furr retired from Cannon Mills. Her greatest joy came from serving her Lord through her gospel singing ministry. She and her husband Floyd founded The Gospel Trio, which traveled extensively in North Carolina and surrounding states singing God's praises. A visitation was held on Thursday, Oct.1, 2009, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held at New Grace Baptist Church on Friday, Oct. 2, 2009, at 2 p.m., following a 30 minute state, with Rev. Allen Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. Lorraine is survived by sisters, Evelyn Eudy (Bob) of Kannapolis and Ruby Furr of Concord; children, daughter, and devoted caregiver Connie Furr of Concord; son, Terry Furr of St. Augustine, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Cristy Furr; grandchildren, Angela Huneycutt (Danny) of Crescent Beach, S.C., Lori Miller (Kenneth) of Concord and Tracy Roberts (Andrew) of Orlando, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Taylor Rogers,Justin Rogers, Megan Miller, and Ally Huneycutt; great-great-grandson, Gradyn Rogers. Memorials may be made to New Grace Baptist Church Building Fund PO Box 567 Concord, NC 28026 or Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County 5003 Hospice Lane Kannapolis, NC 28081.
