Services for Curtis Laverne Furr. 24-year-old Tunica native, whoe died early Wednesday morning, August 5, 1975 at the Portsmouth, Virginia Naval Hospital of injuries received in a one car accident on July 25, were at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at Looxahoma Baptist Church. Interment was in the church cemetery. Officiating at the service was the accident victim's brother, Jimmy Furr, ministerial student at New Orleans Baptist Seminary. Mr. Furr, who had been in the Air Force almost two years, was returning from conducting a week-long Christian Retreat when the accident occurred during a severe storm. He was born in Tunica County Oct. 4, 1950. A graduate of Tunica County High School, he attended Northwest Mississippi Junior College at Senatobia, Mississippi College at Clinton and Memphis State University prior to enlisting in the Air Force. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Starr Trible Furr; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Allen Furr of Tunica; two brothers, Ernest Furr of Tunica and Jimmy Furr of New Orleans; and seven sisters, Mrs. Marion Parker of Tunica, Mrs. Blanch Mixon of Greenville, Mrs. Earline Chambers of Clarksdale, Mrs. Elizabeth Welch of Holcomb, Mrs. Sammie Franks of Edwardsburg, Mich., and Mrs. Martha Chambers and Mrs. Edna Chambers, both of Southaven.Endnotes
