Death

FORT MILL -- Mrs. Joyce Furr Boone, age 49, of 105 Thomas Avenue, passed away Monday, July 1, 2002 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 4, 2002 at the Pineville Church of the Nazarene in Pineville, with the Rev. Michael Bearden and the Rev. Dewey Wise officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia United Methodist Church Cemetery in Fort Mill. Born August 1, 1952 in Mecklenburg County, Mrs. Boone was a daughter of James Furr and Muriel Furr. She was a graduate of South Mecklenburg High School and was a former employee of Sherer Dental Laboratory. She loved ceramics, exercising, and shopping. She was a lifetime member of the Pineville Church of the Nazarene, where she was a former Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Boone is survived by her husband, George "Butch" Boone, Sr. of the home; her son and daughter-in-law, George "Butch" Boone, Jr. and Allison Boone of Rock Hill; her daughter, Angela Boone of Fort Mill; her brothers, Larry Furr, Jimmy Furr, and Gary Furr; and two grandchildren, Blake Boone and Morgan Boone. She was preceded in death by a brother, Donnie Furr. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2002 at Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at the family home, 105 Thomas Avenue. Memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, The Greater Carolinas Chapter, 9844-C Southern Pine Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28273.
