LANCASTER, SC :Mrs. Eldora Bertie Furr LaFoy, age 93, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, September 21, 2016. She was born September 15, 1923 in Charlotte, NC. She was the daughter of the late Realus Fredrick Furr and Bertie Griffen Furr, and the wife of the late Perry Franklin LaFoy for 65 years. Mrs. Lafoy was raised at Mills Home – Baptist Children’s Home in Thomasville, NC from September 1934 till June 1941. After high school graduation she returned to Charlotte, NC with her sisters where she met her husband Perry Franklin LaFoy. She was a homemaker and loved taking care of children. Mrs. LaFoy was a member of Glenwood Heights Baptist Church. Mrs. LaFoy is survived by two daughters, Saundra L Hager and her husband, Boyd of Archdale, NC; and Barbara Jean L Reed of Summerville, SC. A foster son, Randall Hodge; five grandchildren, Ron (Jeanette), Richie (Twilla), Becca Reed, Leland (Tiffany) Hager of Archdale, and Naomi Hager of Tulsa, OK; and six great grandchildren. Mrs. LaFoy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Gladys Adeline Furr, and Mary Inez Furr; one brother, James Lloyd Furr; and a foster son, Willie Hodge. The Celebration of Life Graveside Funeral Service for Mrs. LaFoy will be 3:30 pm, Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Lancaster Memorial Park by Rev. Boyd Hager. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 pm Sunday, September 25, 2016, one hour prior to the funeral service, at Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster, SC.
