Gladys A. Furr Brooks Mrs. Brooks, 95, of Charlotte, passed away December 17, 2004 at her residence. Mrs. Brooks was born September 8, 1909 in Charlotte, NC, a daughter of the late Bertie Griffin Furr and Realus Fred Furr. Gladys was full of life and lived life to the fullest and will be missed by her family and friends. Mrs. Brooks worked as a sales clerk for J. B. Ivey and Company for over 32 years. A graveside service to celebrate the life of Gladys A. Furr Brooks will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, December 20, 2004 at Sharon Memorial Park Cemetery. Gladys is survived by her two children, Joanna Brooks Davis and her husband, Bob, of Orangeburg, SC, and Rebecca Carolyn Brooks of Charlotte, NC; a sister, Eldora LaFoy and her husband, Perry, of Archdale, NC; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Brooks of Lake Wylie, SC and Julie Morris and her husband, Phil, of Atlanta, GA; a great granddaughter, Katie Morris of Atlanta, GA; and loving care givers, Jeanne Constable and Mary Ermold of Charlotte, NC and Mary Ivey of Huntersville, NC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leon Franklin Brooks, Sr.; her son, Leon Franklin Brooks, Jr.; and her sister, Inez Suggs.
