Death

Rebecca Carolyn Brooks Ms. Brooks, age 66, of Charlotte, NC, died Saturday, September 7, 2008. She was the third child of Leon Franklin and Gladys Furr Brooks. She loved people. As long as she was able to do so, she helped all those who asked her to help them. Her faith in God was deep and abiding and in spite of many illnesses during her life, she always talked of her steadfast belief that God would take care of all her needs. She was the caregiver of her parents for the last twenty five years of their lives. She traveled, was a great cook, loved flowers, loved animals (especially her dogs), loved to sing (and wrote a Christian song that was published), and made a successful attempt at poetry by writing the class poem for her graduating high school class. Survivors include her sister, Joanna Brooks Davis of Lancaster, SC; a nephew, Jeffery Michael Brooks of Charlotte, NC; a niece, Julie Brooks Morris of Atlanta, GA; a great niece, Katie Morris of Atlanta, GA; and a number of cousins. She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Leon Franklin Brooks, Jr. She had special loving friends who helped care for her during her life; Carol Tinker (her cousin), Mary and Buddy Ivey, Jeanette Constable, and Mary Ermold. Inurnment will be beside her mother and father at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte, NC on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Dan Batson, Senior Minister of First United Methodist Church of Lancaster, SC officiating.
