Death

CONCORD - Billy Gene Furr, 71, of 925 Gasser Drive, died Thursday Feb. 26, 2004, at his home. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, Concord. The Rev. Rodney Quesenberry and the Rev. Collie Howard will officiate. Burial will be at West Concord Cemetery in Concord. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Born December 29, 1932, in Cabarrus County he was the son of the late Laura Furr Furr and Matthew “Dick” Furr. He was a retired shop supervisor from plant #16 at Fieldcrest Cannon with 41 years of service. Bill was associated with Hartsell Youth Sports Association. He also coached and played softball for many years. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his wife, Nelda Lambert Furr of the home; two sons, Randy Furr and wife Jenny of Concord and Scott Furr and wife Robin of Concord; a daughter, Kim Ryals of Concord; four brothers, Jack Furr, Levon Furr and Jerry Furr all of Concord and Harold Furr of Indian Trail; two sisters, Patsy Barrier of Mt. Pleasant and Lorene Easley of Norwood, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Brandy and Billy Ryals, Jonathan, Courtney and Josh Furr and Brittney and Travis Furr; and a great-grandson, Hunter Ryals. Memorials may be made to The American Heart Association, 1229 Greenwood Clfs., Charlotte, N.C. 28204-2842. Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is in charge of arrangements.
