Death
Concord, June 2. — Billy Joe Furr, five-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Silas Furr, of Harrisburg, was fatally injured yesterday afternoon at 2 o’clock when he was struck by a car driven by Dr. V. L. Dyer, of Pittsburg, W. Va. The accident occurred on highway 29, near Harrisburg, as the boy was crossing the road. He was taken to Cabarrus county hospital, where he died at 3:05 p. m. Physicians said he suffered a fractured skull, fractures of both legs and internal injuries. Yesterday afternoon a coroner's jury called by Coroner N. J. Mitchell held an inquest and ruled that it was an “unavoidable accident.” The boy is survived by his parents and one brother.Statesville Record and Landmark, Statesville, North Carolina, June 5, 1939
